Back-to-back: Simple Panzanella

You’d be forgiven, lately, for thinking that I’m on extended holiday. But here in the UK, we kind of all are. Easter plus a certain upcoming wedding means back-to-back four-day weekends and an understandable amount of laziness in between. But for myself, the laziness is at a minimum; heading up to Andrew’s parents’ last weekend and getting ready for a visit from my parents this week means I haven’t had a lot of time for cooking or blogging. Summer in a Bowl: Creamy Tomato Soup

Is there anything more versatile than tomato soup? From rustic Italian pappa al pomodoro to chilled Spanish gazpacho to supermarket-smooth Campbell’s, there are literally hundreds of different recipes out there. And I love them all (well, most of them). Read more…

Making the most: Grain, Fennel and Radish Salad with Butter-Lemon Dressing

After weeks of glorious weather, London has reverted to the overcast skies and cool temperatures it likes best. I’m glad that I made the most of the warmer weather while it was here, with much window-opening, skirt-wearing and salad-making. Potato Pizza with Rosemary and Brie

Trends in my kitchen come and go. Sometimes I’ll latch onto a particular recipe or ingredient and it will make weekly appearances, and sometimes old favourites will languish unused for months or even years. One thing that remains constant around here is that Friday night is Pizza Night. Read more…

Bunches of Veg

It’s almost Monday here in London, but I wanted to get this week’s Farmer’s Market post up before I went to sleep. This week is the one chance I’ll have to be “off” before classes start up again in 8 days time, and I want to take full advantage of it. Some relaxing, some reading, some long walks and of course- lots of cooking. Read more…

One for the fans: Spaghetti with Chickpeas

My blog has amassed a small collection of what I like to think of as Random Fans. These are people who have been passed a link by a friend or family member of mine (most likely my mother), and who, rather than commenting on my site, refer their praise back to their own original source. So I get a lot of emails like “Your cousin made your chickpea salad and loved it” and “My friend Sarah’s mom made those brownies last week- they were great!”. Read more…
