A home remedy: Spicy Stir-fried Cabbage

If you’ve been following me on Twitter recently, you’ll know that I’ve been sick for the past couple days. If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you’ll know that I’m sick quite often. And if you know me in real life, well then, you’ve probably said to me at some point or another “Good grief Ele, do you have to catch every little bug that goes around?” Read more…

Snackable: Pad Thai Noodle Salad

Phad Thai Noodle Salad

I first had Pad Thai on a snowy day in New York City about seven years ago. Andrew and I were visiting my cousins Jeff and Natasha (they of the fab Brooklyn shops UVA Wines and Whisk- I come from good foodie stock, don’t ya know) for a bit of pre-Christmas shopping and sightseeing. Ugly food needs love too: Russian Cabbage with Tomatoes and Sour Cream

Russian Cabbage with Tomatoes and Sour Cream

I’m well aware this isn’t the prettiest dish I’ve ever posted here. In fact, you’re probably navigating away from this screen right now. But before you do, consider this: you must have a favourite “ugly” dish or ingredient, right? Something you love eating, but would never blog about or serve to company, due to its less-than-lovely appearance? Read more…

Deliciously (half) baked: Cabbage and Cauliflower Cannelloni

cabbage and cauliflower canneloni, baked

Stuffing pasta with cabbage seems like a half-baked idea, I know. For many of us, doing anything with cabbage seems a bit far-out. I used to hate cabbage- well, actually, I used to think I hated cabbage, which is something completely different. We didn’t eat it all that often when I was growing up, so I never really got the chance to decide for myself whether I hated it- but every kid hates cabbage, right? Read more…
